The internet wasn’t built to be owned by a few companies. Neither should AI.

AION is building the open alternative: AI compute that’s distributed, neutral and owned by the people who use and believe in it.

How we got here

Every AI product you use runs on GPUs. The chatbot answering your questions, the model generating your images, the tools your company is starting to depend on.

And almost all of that compute sits with a handful of giants. They decide who gets capacity, where it’s built, what it costs and what it can be used for. If you’re a startup, a researcher or a small AI team, you wait in line, pay their price and accept their rules.

We think that’s a fragile foundation for something the whole economy will soon run on. The internet became powerful because no single company owned it. AI compute should work the same way.

So we started building it.

Our mission

To start, we partner with existing and proven Tier III data centers, put real GPUs in them and split ownership of that hardware among many people. Soon we’ll start building our own small and medium-sized data centers.

No corporate gatekeepers. We build where our tenants need capacity, we provide neutral infrastructure, and we stay out of what they build with it.

That’s how the internet was meant to work. That’s how AI compute should work.

Compute as an open layer

Our vision is AI infrastructure that belongs to a broad community instead of a single balance sheet. Three principles get us there:

  1. 01

    Distributed, not centralized

Small and medium data centers of up to around 5 MW, built close to the people who need the capacity, instead of a few mega-campuses controlled by a few companies.

  2. 02

Owned by many, not by one

Every GPU is serial-numbered and split into 40 Compute Units. Many people can hold them, so the infrastructure is owned by its community.

  3. 03

    Neutral by design

We provide the capacity. What tenants build with it is up to them.

Real-world infrastructure, owned by its community.

AION is part of DePIN: decentralized physical infrastructure networks, one of the fastest-growing movements in Web3. Instead of one company owning a network, the people who fund and support it own it. It started with wireless and storage. Now it’s coming to AI compute.

Most DePIN projects start with a token and hope the hardware follows. We did it the other way around. Hardware first: real GPUs, real AI tenants, real usage, and ownership already split among hundreds of people.

Today, our community owns the hardware and we run the operations. From here, we’re building toward a network that is more open, more distributed and more community-driven with every site we add.

Not a token looking for a use case. Infrastructure looking for its owners.

Not a whitepaper. A working fleet.

We didn’t start with a promise. We started with hardware.

Every Compute Unit points to a device like this one.Let me know if this is possible?

From here we grow one site and one device at a time. Next stop: AION’s first own data center in 2028.

Every fraction makes the network bigger.

Each Compute Unit someone buys adds to infrastructure that doesn’t answer to a single company. You’re not just owning a piece of a GPU. You’re helping build what AI runs on next.

The future of AI shouldn’t belong to a few. Own part of it.
